Are Implants better than Dentures?

Are Implants better than Dentures?

Implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium. They are surgically placed into your jawbone under local anesthesia. Once they are healed, the implants can support either a crown, a bridge, or dentures.

Dentures are removable, artificial teeth. They are made of acrylic plastic and attached to a metal or plastic base. It is a convenient, removable teeth solution available at an affordable cost.

How are implants made?

There are specific criteria that must be met before a patient can be a candidate for dental implants. This includes jawbone density, age, and overall health.

The dentist must assess the patient’s jawbone density, which is how much jawbone material is present and available to support the dental implant. If the patient doesn’t have enough jawbone density, this can cause the implant to fail and fall out.

Age is another limiting factor for dental implants. Patients should be at least 18 years old before pursuing implants. This is because the jawbone isn’t fully mature until the patient is 18 years old.

How are dentures made?

Dentures are custom-fit to your mouth, and they are removable. The dentures are made of plastic, acrylic resin, and porcelain. They can be removed to clean them and your gums. Dentures are a great option if you have lost all or most of your teeth.

There are four types of dentures:

* Full dentures

* Partial dentures

* Immediate dentures

* Overdentures

What treatment is better for my needs?

Dental implants are surgically placed directly into the jawbone, providing an anchor for artificial teeth. A fixed bridge can be attached to the implants and artificial teeth can be used to replace many missing teeth.

Dentures are removable appliances secured by fitting over the patient’s gums. They can be used as a temporary or permanent teeth replacement option.

To understand the best restorative dental option that suits you, it is best to visit the dentist at the earliest to undergo a complete dental checkup.
